Aiyana Smith, '17
Elizabeth Johnson, '17
Aiyana is a senior from East Windsor, CT. She is planning on being a biology major and eventually become a biology teacher. She loves singing in the gospel choir here on campus and playing flute in the pep band. While she doesn't watch tv a lot, don't bother her when Doctor Who, The Walking Dead or Supernatural is on. In her spare time, she likes to read, hang with friends, practice or be a loner and just think. She is super pumped to be a part of Vocal Point this year and is ready to make these girls her family for the next four!
Elizabeth is a senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Brain & Cognitive Science and is from the somewhat sunny city of Buffalo, NY. She has been playing music her entire life - much to her bothers' dismay. After dabbling in piano, violin, and even percussion, Elizabeth settled on singing and has since been performing in choirs and musicals and taking voice lessons since the age of ten. Now in college, Elizabeth takes primary voice lessons at the Eastman School of Music, and obviously, sings with VP! When she is not singing incessantly (and even sometimes when she is) you can find her doing research in psychology, hanging out with her residents and other d'lions, singing at church, or drinking copious amounts of coffee while in Starbucks, with her sisters of Chi Omega. Elizabeth also likes to read Harry Potter and have marathons of cop shows or chick flicks.
Priya is a senior from Maryland planning on majoring in International Relations and minoring in Computer Science. In addition to Vocal Point, Priya is a member of the community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. Interests include hot celebs, low quality action movies, and dogs.
Sabrina Parry is a senior from Utah studying violin performance at the Eastman School of Music. Enrolling in violin, piano, and voice lessons all at age 6, performing has consistently been the most important part of her life. Sabrina discovered her passion for musical theater in middle school and attended a performing arts high school to continue her studies. A cappella has been a part of her life for over 5 years, and having Vocal Point as an outlet to sing and perform even more means so much to her. When she’s not eating, breathing, and sleeping music, she likes to binge watch TV shows, sit on tumblr for hours, journal, and stay as far away from Utah as possible.
Becca is a junior planning on majoring in Molecular Genetics and hopes to go to Medical School. She is from Whitesboro, New York, a suburb of Utica where the greatest food on the planet is from (ask her about chicken riggies and half moons). Becca has been singing, playing piano, guitar and random percussion instruments since elementary school and is pumped to finally find a group of amazing people where this is socially acceptable. When Becca isn't singing, she's probably binge watching Dexter or Sherlock on Netflix, painting, eating, or getting into some kind of amusing situation with her friends. Becca is so excited to be a part of Vocal Point and can't wait to see what her four years here will bring!
Sophia is a junior born and raised in good old Rochester. She is a pre-med student, but enjoys majoring in music in her spare time. She is also an oboe player in the chamber orchestra, has been playing the piano since she was five, and dabbles in acoustic guitar. Whenever Sophia is not banging her head against a piano or a chemistry textbook, she is probably re-reading Jane Austen or catering to her unhealthy Doctor Who obsession. She’s super excited about her first year in Vocal Point.
Susanna is a Rochester native. You can tell by the way she pronounces plaza. She is a junior and a geology major because rocks are cool. Susanna is a D'lion and is a member of the USGO, the Undergraduate Student Geological Organization, because rocks are cool. Susanna spends her free time crying over Mulder and Scully and singing to herself in public. She is beyond excited to be part of Vocal Point and can't wait to spend years with these beautiful people.
Liz is a sophomore from the very snowy suburbs of Buffalo. She plans on double majoring in Linguistics and Spanish with a minor in Brain and Cognitive Science. Besides singing, Liz enjoys sleeping, taking pictures of her dog, and obsessing over The Office and Parks and Rec. Liz is so excited to be a part of the Rochester A Capella community and to make amazing music with Vocal Point for the next four years!
Mojin is from Beijing, China. She is currently a sophomore in University of Rochester, and is taking classes in psychology and digital media studies. Mojin loves singing, and plays acoustic guitar in her spare time just for fun. Other things Mojin is obsessed with are vanilla ice-cream, Harry Potter series and her lovely lovely cat Three. Although she has been living on the other side of the planet for 18 years, Mojin can't feel more at home now when she's singing with the wonderful talented people in Vocal Point!
Sruti is from Columbus Ohio, and is currently a sophomore at U of R. She is undecided on a major, but interested in both Economics and Chemistry. Sruti is also involved with other organizations on campus like the STEM Initiative and Habitat for Humanity. Besides singing and being overly obsessed with her dog, she likes to binge watch Parks and Recreation, FaceTime with parents, and eat good food. Sruti is so excited to be a part of Vocal Point, and can't wait for all the memories that will come!
Jane is a Sophomore from Churchville, NY (pretty much Rochester), who is currently “fun”decided. Jane has been performing all her life and plays violin, piano, and trumpet. She also loves to sing and has done over 30 musicals! On campus when Jane is not singing with Vocal Point, she works at Starbucks and is a D’Lion! Jane also performed on campus in the ROC Players’ premier production, The Twenty-fifth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as Marcy Park! In her spare time, Jane enjoys eating kettle corn (her fav food) at the Public Market, and listening to a ridiculous amount of show tunes!
