Corey Robinson, '14
Corey is a senior from Rhode Island and is our secret group motivational speaker. She splits her time between Vocal Point, Women's Field Hockey team, the Meridian Society, Delta Gamma and many other activities! She is Business major and Chinese Minor and hopes to become fluent soon. Next Spring Corey will be traveling to China to accomplish this goal, we all look forward to hearing about her adventures. Besides her many activities, Corey is very healthy. You will always see her going on long distance runs or in Starbucks ordering a protein shake. Corey is so enthusiastic and is always smiling. Besides singing in the group she also enjoys showing the group how to boogie down...we could all take a boogie lesson from this lovely lady.
Allison Eberhardt, '15
Allison is originally from the small town of Dumont, NJ, just outside of NYC. She’s a junior at the University of Rochester and is double majoring in Molecular Genetics and Psychology. Her first attempt at sophomore year was brought to a screeching halt when she was diagnosed with leukemia, but after spending the year at home kicking its ass, and with all the love and support of Vocal Point, she made a full recovery and now hopes to go into cancer research. Allison has been singing and playing the piano since kindergarten and loves performing. She sometimes writes her own songs, some of which can be found on her relatively popular YouTube account. She’s also an active member of NJR and Colleges Against Cancer. In addition to her love of music and Vocal Point, Allison is a huge nerd. In her free time, she enjoys playing basketball, going to concerts, being Ben Folds’ biggest fan, watching crime shows, and hanging out with her friends.
Eliza Barnes, '15
Eliza is a junior from the one and only Rochester, NY. She is a Mathematics major and Music minor. She is a big math nerd and gets emotional about it frequently. In her spare time, she likes to drink Coca Cola, crochet, play classical piano (Debussy whuttup?!), and be allergic to everything. Vocal Point is her home away from home and she is pumped to see what this year brings.
Sophie Fishbein, '15
Abroad in London Fall 2013
Sophie was born and raised in the lovely land of Brooklyn, New York. She is a junior studying Art History and Music. Sophie’s entrance to the world of music first started with her obsession with Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady at age 8. A few of her favorite things are knitting, Mad Men, and playing the upright bass. She’s super pumped to be starting her third year in Vocal Point!
Jenny Smacher, '15
Assistant Musical Director
Jenny is a junior planning to major in Economics and English. She plays trombone and piano, and started out singing in church and in school musicals. She is a member of No Jackets Required as well as Vocal Point, and she manages her time very poorly. Jenny spends most of her life quoting Lord of the Rings, eating chicken, watching South Park, and trying not to fall asleep in class. She is so, so proud to be a part of Vocal Point.
Diana Barlaam, '16
Public Relations Chair
Hola Amigos!! Diana Barlaam is currently a sophomore at U of R, where she is majoring in psychology and minoring in Spanish. She is originally from Fairfield, CT, so she is used to the blistering winds and frigid snows from October-April in Rochester. In her spare time, she loves to crawl around on the floor with her best friend, Simba. He is her cat. She also really enjoys practicing her awesome impersonations of her friends (ask her about them sometime), as well as singing harmony to any song that she hears, even if it is only in her head! Diana is excited to be in Vocal Point for the next four years of her life, and is so lucky to have a group of friends here at college (her parents were worried)! In the future, Diana plans on attending medical school to study either human or feline medicine, but she knows her true calling is healing people via being a popstar.
Isabelle Marcelin, '16
Alumnae Coordinator/Fundraising Chair
Isabelle is a sophomore at U of R. She is a public health major on a premed track, with plans to go to med school and hopefully become a pediatrician or obstetrician. Her dream is to work with Doctors without Borders and really give care to those in need around the globe. Isabelle's been singing in a school choir since elementary school, but she really knew it was something she loved to do when she landed the role of the witch in her middle school’s production of Into the Woods. Since then, she continued her singing career in her high school’s chorus and in her church choir. WIth those experiences under her belt, Isabelle is really happy and blessed to have made it into an a cappella group at the U of R! Isabelle is the first to admit that she is a nerd and may come off as shy at first, but Vocal Point has definitely made her more confident. Plus, she loves hanging out with the girls inside and out of rehearsal! Aside from singing, Isabelle loves to watch movies, have jam sessions with her friends, which normally includes playing guitar, run, read, eat, and go on Twitter!
Elizabeth Prezioso, '16
Elizabeth is from Clifton Park, New York and is currently a sophomore. She is a Brain and Cognitive Sciences major and plans to minor in Psychology. After graduation she plans to enter med school and pursue a career in psychiatry. She has been in singing groups since 3rd grade, but Vocal Point is her first time singing all pop music. She is very outgoing and has found a home with all the other crazies in Vocal Point. Elizabeth is super excited to be starting her second year with Vocal Point!!
Carla Macias, '16
Carla Macias is from Brooklyn and is currently a sophomore at the U of R. She plans on majoring in Financial Economics and/or Brain and Cognitive Science. In high school she participated in musical theater where she has played Frenchie in Grease, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, and Maria in The Sound of Music. Entering college she knew that in some way she wanted to continue to perform and found a home within the lovely Vocal Point. Carla feels very blessed that she has found a group where she can not only do what she loves the most, which is to sing, but also has the opportunity to learn a lot about the craft and grow as an individual. On her down time if she isn’t singing, she is reading, writing, texting, cursing Facebook or just being a clumsy goofball. Carla is very excited about being a part of Vocal Point, and although she admits it takes a lot of dedication and hard work, she can’t wait to see the great things to come.
Hannah Briggs, '16
Hannah is a sophomore transfer student from Baltimore with a love for roadies, Miley, and The O.C.. When she isn't binge watching bad high school dramas, she can be found doing more productive activities like sitting in Starbucks for hours and talking to anyone who will listen. Hannah loves Vocal Point already and can't wait to spend more time singing and doing synchronized lady-dancing to Mariah Carey chart-toppers!
Sarah Elderkin, '17
Sarah is a freshman at the University of Rochester. Sarah is incredibly passionate about music, and enjoys singing and playing a variety of musical instruments, primarily the oboe. While undecided in her major, she intends to pursue a career in Music Therapy, so she is studying music and psychology. Between orchestra, church worship band, private instruction, and various other activities, Sarah has centered her life around music since she was little, and could not be more excited to be involved in Vocal Point. Sarah is from Seattle, and is incredibly proud of her Pacific Northwest roots. True to the stereotype, Sarah is used to rain and loves coffee and the outdoors.
Elizabeth Johnson, '17
Elizabeth is a freshie and a newb (the worst combination), from the ever so quaint city of Buffalo: home of the chicken wing. She is planning on majoring in psychology and possibly biology, and hopes to minor in English. When she’s not with VP, you’ll find Elizabeth procrastinating via singing Disney songs down the hall or dancing to 90’s pop music. If she’s not doing any of those things, she’s probably singing at church or with Habitat for Humanity. Most importantly, Elizabeth is obsessed with old English literature and Harry Potter!!! (you can just ask her Uncle Sev). Since Elizabeth’s grandpa was a music teacher, she has been obsessed with music since birth. She can also play percussion, piano and violin, but absolutely cannot perc… Despite this fatal flaw, Elizabeth is so excited to be spending her next four years in VP and feels so blessed to be able to jeng-jeng, doo-wap, and ba-dop with these amazing girls!
Aiyana Smith, '17
Aiyana is a freshman from East Windsor, CT. She is planning on being a biology major and eventually become a biology teacher. She loves singing in the gospel choir here on campus and playing flute in the pep band. While she doesn't watch tv a lot, don't bother her when Doctor Who, The Walking Dead or Supernatural is on. In her spare time she likes to read, hang with friends, practice or be a loner and just think. She is super pumped to be a part of Vocal Point this year and is ready to make these girls her family for the next four!
Priya Thomas, '17
Priya is a freshman who is originally from the tiny state of Maryland, a place that is far simpler than the huge mass that is New York State. She is planning to double major in International Relations and Computer Science, although she might just major in Vocal Point instead. She has always loved singing and playing the piano, and can often be found jamming and improvising on a piano in one of the practice rooms. In addition to Vocal Point, Priya is also a member of the Women's Chorus, SOCKS, and the Refugee Student Alliance. In her free time, Priya enjoys eating, telling embarrassing stories about herself, embarrassing herself, losing anything that can be lost, and gushing over Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, random crime shows, various attractive male celebrities, and, naturally, Vocal Point.
