Aiyana Smith, '17
Aiyana is a senior from East Windsor, CT. She is planning on being a biology major and eventually become a biology teacher. She loves singing in the gospel choir here on campus and playing flute in the pep band. While she doesn't watch tv a lot, don't bother her when Doctor Who, The Walking Dead or Supernatural is on. In her spare time, she likes to read, hang with friends, practice or be a loner and just think. She is super pumped to be a part of Vocal Point this year and is ready to make these girls her family for the next four!
Elizabeth Johnson, '17
Elizabeth is a senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Brain & Cognitive Science and is from the somewhat sunny city of Buffalo, NY. She has been playing music her entire life - much to her bothers' dismay. After dabbling in piano, violin, and even percussion, Elizabeth settled on singing and has since been performing in choirs and musicals and taking voice lessons since the age of ten. Now in college, Elizabeth takes primary voice lessons at the Eastman School of Music, and obviously, sings with VP! When she is not singing incessantly (and even sometimes when she is) you can find her doing research in psychology, hanging out with her residents and other d'lions, singing at church, or drinking copious amounts of coffee while in Starbucks, with her sisters of Chi Omega. Elizabeth also likes to read Harry Potter and have marathons of cop shows or chick flicks.
Sabrina Parry, '17 (Eastman)
ASSISTANT MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Sabrina Parry is a senior from Utah studying violin performance at the Eastman School of Music. Enrolling in violin, piano, and voice lessons all at age 6, performing has consistently been the most important part of her life. Sabrina discovered her passion for musical theater in middle school and attended a performing arts high school to continue her studies. A Cappella has been a part of her life for over 5 years, and having Vocal Point as an outlet to sing and perform even more means so much to her. When she’s not eating, breathing, and sleeping music, she likes to binge watch TV shows, sit on tumblr for hours, journal, and stay as far away from Utah as possible.
Becca Galer, '18
Becca is a junior hailing from from Utica, NY. Becca served as one of our tour coordinators this year for our trip to Chicago, and is a Molecular Genetics major with a minor in music and is hoping to go to medical school to be a Pediatric Cardiologist. Becca’s favorite foods include anything from Utica, and she makes some mean Chicken Riggies. Besides Vocal Point, Becca serves as the president of Alpha Phi and does Leukemia drug research and is a shadow intern at the Medical Center. Her spirit animal is an otter, and she has an unhealthy obsession with wrist watches and “pink drinks” from Starbucks!
Sophia Stone, '18
Junior, Sophia Stone was born and raised in good old Rochester! This is Sophia’s second year as Musical Director and is the person behind some of the most killer arrangements Vocal Point has ever seen. Sophia is a double major in Molecular Genetics and Music, and hopes to be some kind of doctor-either an MD or a PhD in Composition. Best of both worlds, am I right? When she’s not working on Vocal Point things, she loves to spend time with her dachshund Karl, and create modern art with an armful of makeup swatches at Sephora. Aside from Vocal Point, on campus Sophia is an oboist and english horn player in the Symphony Orchestra and is a sister of Kappa Alpha Theta.
Susanna Chhibber, '18
Susanna is a native of Rochester, you can tell by the way she pronounces plaza. Susanna is a Geology major, and a founding member of Rock Club, and her career goal is to be a National Park Ranger. Her one true love is, you guessed it, rocks, but she also enjoys performing the entire soundtrack of Hamilton by memory in the car, and spending time with her family and 1.5-eared dog, Winnie. When she’s not leading her secret life of being an Amazon Warrior Princess, or performing with Vocal Point, she is a TA for the Geology Department and is the Vice President of USGO!
Elizabeth Priore, '19
Liz hails from Buffalo, NY and is the General Manager for our group and is the queen of organizational strategies. She is a double major in Linguistics and Business with a minor in Spanish. When Liz got into the group last year we had three Elizabeths, so we gave her the nickname Proprietary, or Props for short. We’re not really sure how autocorrect got that from Priore either. On campus, Liz recently performed in the Vagina Monologues, is a sister of Alpha Phi, a Linguistics TA, and looks forward to being an Orientation Leader this summer! With an average trip rate of three times a day, Liz enjoys the times she can stay in one place by hanging out with friends at Starbucks and arranging for the group.
Mojin Yu, '19
Public Relations Chair
Mojin, our Public Relations chair, hails from Beijing, China. Mojin is double majoring in Digital Media Studies and Psychology, is very artistic, and loves to paint and work on designs on her computer. When Mojin auditioned for our group last year, she got her note from her trusty tuning fork, and we knew we had to have her. Besides singing with Vocal Point, Mojin is a member of No Jackets Required and looks forward to being an International Student Mentor for some of next year’s freshmen! Mojin is our designated “large-city-navigator” (New York and Chicago so far), and can ATTACK any size bowl of noodles you put in front of her. Mojin misses her beloved cat, Three, but is excited for her next two years with Vocal Point!
Sruti Tekumalla, '19
Alumni Relations and Fundraising Chair
Sruti (Like Fruity with an S) is currently a Sophomore, and a native of her beloved, Columbus, Ohio. Sruti serves as our Fundraising Chair/Alumni Coordinator and was one of our Tour Coordinators this year. Sruti is a Economics major with a minor in Chemistry and hopes to go to Medical School. Sruti hopes to become an ophthalmologist so she can do cataract surgery on the elderly. Besides singing with Vocal Point, on campus Sruti can usually be found studying in Circ, but she’s also an RA in Hoeing, and a sister of Alpha Phi. Besides singing, Sruti’s talents include wiggling her ears, and playing recorder. Sruti reached the prime of her recorder career in the fifth grade when she played the Pied-Piper in her school musical. She is excited for her last two years with Vocal Point.
Jane Huffer, '19
Jane is a sophomore who hails from right here in beautiful Rochester! Jane is a Music Education major and plays violin, trumpet, and piano, in addition to singing. (She plays four instruments!) Jane says she cannot remember a time when music was not part of her life. In addition to being in Vocal Point (Jane primarily sings “tippy-top” soprano in the group), she loves musical theatre and most recently portrayed Natalie in ROC Players’s production of “Next to Normal.” She is also a Starbucks barista and a D’Lion, and looks forward to being an RA next year! In addition to other perfectly reasonable foods, Jane hates bananas, and currently holds the title of “VP’s Pickiest Eater.” Jane’s spirit animal is a giraffe because she is so lanky, and if she were a flower, she would be a sunflower, likely for the same reason, as well as for her bright and bubbly personality!
Bailey Walters, '19
Bailey, our “Actual Bae,” is a sophomore from the home of the “wing,” Buffalo, NY. Bailey is a double major in Neuroscience and Psychology and hopes to go to Medical School in the future. She is proudly an old woman in a 19 year old’s body, her favorite candies including twizzlers and chocolate covered raisins, and she’s had glasses since the age of six. Aside from Vocal Point, Bailey is a member of College Feminists, does research at the Med Center, and is a sister in Chi Omega. She has proudly taken on the ColourPop addiction of Vocal Point, and since joining, it is a rare sight to see her without lipstick on. Bailey has been a great addition to our group this year!
Deborah Fan, '20
Freshman Deborah, aka “Little Debbie,” is a native of Hong Kong. Deb grew up as a “band geek" playing trumpet and piano, but has embraced her voice even more this year in Vocal Point. She is majoring in AME with a minor in Comp Sci. Deb’s true loves include her dog, Twix, Apple Orchard Fruit Snacks, and corgis. When asked what she does for fun, she answered “I do lots of homework” (with her iconic extra keyboard plugged into her laptop), but she also likes to craft while listening to showtunes, and hang out with her sisters of Chi Omega. Become a Deborah Fan today!
Emily Tworek, '20
Freshman Emily, hails proudly from the snowiest city in the country, Erie, Pennsylvania. Majoring in Theater and English, Emily’s beautiful alto voice and spunky personality bring so much to the group. On campus, Emily is a Meridian, a member of TOOP, and works in the Dance Department. Emily loves to read (obviously, English major), writing awful poetry, binge watching House of Cards and Breaking Bad, listening to non-stop showtunes, and seeking out all of the best (non-campus) food Rochester has to offer.
Lilo Blank, '20
Our smallest (although her personality makes up for it) newbie, freshman Lilo, hails proudly from Elkins Park, PA. After we heard her mentioned at Convocation for being on The Voice, we were so excited to see her at auditions!. Lilo is not actually named after the animated Disney character and does not have a pet *blue koala?*, and has funnily enough, never seen Lilo and Stitch! Lilo is a Public Health Major with a double minor in BCS and Women’s and Gender Studies, and when she’s not singing with Vocal Point, you can find her adamantly working on crushing the patriarchy, hanging out with her sisters in Gamma Phi Beta, or assisting in her research position for the WISH Program at the Medical Center.
